How to setup Dementia/Digital Diary/Clock apk for android
- For Android 4.0 or higher:Please to Settings, look down to Security, and select Unknown sources. Choosing this choice will enable to install apps download from the internet.
- For devices running on lower Android 4.0:
Please go to Settings - open the Applications option, and select Unknown sources, click OK on the popup alert.
Dementia/Digital Diary/Clock Description
Inspired by my experiences caring for my mother and father in law, both of whom have suffered from dementia / alzheimers, the Dementia Diary was written to help improve both their lives and the lives of their carers.Dementia Diary/Clock provides a digital / analog clock display and a live and remotely configurable calendar facility. Using any shared calendar configured onto the phone/tablet, the app will display the next three calendar events occurring either today or tomorrow (configurable) and any "all day" events. These events are set up using a device configured calendar and as such can be updated from "anywhere", provided an internet connection is available on the device.
Out of the box, Dementia Diary requires no set up or configuration and currently supports the following languages;English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Danish and Romanian.
Other Features available through simple configuration mechanisms are:
Simple screen lock option - press top left five times to lock, five times to unlock
Colour Configuration: Various screen colour configurations are available including a variety of background colour options (or analog clock screens) that can be used to stimulate viewer senses. These are cycled using a long press on the "top right" of the screen.
Display Configuration: Different types of information can be provided according to the users level of comprehension. Cycled using a long press on the "centre" text of the screen.
A Configuration screen (long press in the "top left" text of the screen) allows the following settings to be made:
24/12 hour mode:
Analog/Digital mode:
Time of Day: The text displayed for different times of the day can be overridden and the start time configured on an hour by hour basis.
Speech: Speech can be enabled to read out a calendar event or the time and date (short press on the information).
Today only mode: This allows the user to elect to view only today's events and not tomorrow's.
Alarm Facility: For individual calendar entries with the alarm activated, the next event can be highlighted in red (15 minutes before and for the event duration) and subsequently acknowledged by the user (long press on the entry). The calendar event will be updated with the time of the acknowledgement. Note: for multi-event calendar entries only the highlight will be removed, the calendar event will not be updated.
Banner Text: - An optional "marque" (scrolling text) message in the middle of the screen can be set. This will default to the first "all day" event on that day or, if no all-day event a default text message can be set.
Text capitalization: Options to capitalize the Date and Time and calendar events
Text override: for "no events" message
Display Event Time - option to remove the event time details from the text displayed
Background Picture: A picture, selected from those available on the device can be used as a background image for the screen.
Note: Providing an allday event in the calendar with the following text format will force a specific picture on the device to be displayed for that day. @DDpicturefilepath where picturefilepath is either an absolute file path (starts with a "/") or a relative path from the external storage device. e.g. @DDDCIM/Camera/IMG_1.jpg
Starting any event with the "[" character in the calendar will make it only visible when the event is active
A Reduced information night option that displays date and time only and dims the screen during the night phase.
To speed up Calendar updates, the user should enter their calendar email account name (e.g. me@gmail.com) in the account setting - without this information the calendar will still update, just slowly.
An advanced option allowing a user to set all of the fonts sizes is now available - Beware!
Defaults to "15:15:25:25:15:15:10:10"
A Note of Warning: This application is designed to be "always on". Please ensure the device is mains powered as it will drain the battery life.
What's new in Dementia/Digital Diary/Clock 3.01
3.01 Minor bug fix for today only all day events3.00 Analog clock display added. Change to how the calendar updates now requires you add your calendar email address in options to perform the fast update. It will still update without, just more slowly. Some new configuration formats and an option to remove the time text on events.
