Mridangam, Kanjira, Ghatam, Morsing are some of the South Indian Percussion / Drum Instruments. North Indian similar instruments are Tabla, Dolkhi, Dolka, Pakhawaj etc.

Traditionally Jalra is used in South Indian bhajans to maintain the rhythm. In its simplest form, it is a pair of small hand cymbals. In North India is known as manjeera, taal, khartal or kartal, Gini.

This app plays Jalra (Manjira), Mridangam and Tambura sound samples in a loop. Works as Click Track / Metronome.

While practicing South Indian Carnatic vocal or instruments, or while performing simple home Bhajans we need at least a metronome called Jalra (Manjira) and Tambura. Having a percussion instrument like Mridangam or Dolak is an added advantage.

For vocalists, having an app like this will free up our two hands to concentrate on the lyrics or playing harmonium while singing. For instrumentalist, this app can help as an metronome, and the Mridangam adds a lot of satisfaction. Overall improves the level of satisfaction to our performance. To perform Bhajans with a group of people, connect your phone to a simple portable speaker and you will see the difference.

Even while recording song, you can hook on to a head phone and listen to the Jalra (Manjira) and Tambura while you sing. This allows to record only the song. By this approach, after recording, using audio editors (like audacity) edit the recorded audio to improve the audio quality by adding EQ etc. The Jalra (Manjira) and Tambura sound samples can be added as additional tracks to complete the song for publishing.

No knowledge of rhythm is expected to use the app. Just click the buttons and get going.

These sound samples have been customized for south Indian Carnatic music and south Indian Bhajan.

All sounds are choice driven, i.e. if you don't want to include Mridangam or Jalra (Manjira) or Tambura, you can switch them off.

The app can keep playing in the background without issues. You can play or pause from Notification area. You can bring up the app from the notification area.

You can "TAP" to get the desired tempo set.

The app shows count on its main display.
